Gangs and organized crime in York Region are actively recruiting and manipulating teens with talk of easy cash and the lie that you're 'too young to get in trouble.' It’s all a trap: they use you as disposable muscle to take the biggest risks while they sit back and stay safe. This symposium breaks down the hype, reveals what the true consequences are, and gives you the tools to spot the manipulation before it costs you your future.
We need you to create a short video, reel, or graphic that exposes these lies and educates on how to shut it down by reporting it through Crime Stoppers completely anonymously—no fear of being a snitch, no court, 100% safe - oh, and you get paid cash if the info you relayed results in an arrest.
Top 2 videos win a $500 cash reward
Top 3 image submissions win a $300 cash reward.
Winners will be announced live on stage WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2027 during the Symposium at NewRoads Center For Performing Arts
RULES & MANDATORY ELEMENTS

Deadline for all entries: MONDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2027

Students must be actively enrolled at a YRDSB or YRCSB high-school

Students can submit a maximum of 3 entries.

Use of A.I is permitted. You do not need to indicate you used "AI" on your submissions.

Entries can be an Image or Video

IMAGE submissions must be built as standard 1080x1350 (IG post)

PNG or JPG format.

VIDEO submissions max 2 minutes in duration.

Students can focus on either illegal online gambling sites or buying counterfeit goods (don't have to cover both topics, can choose one or the other)

All submissions MUST incorporate a call to action to educate how people can report crime through Crime Stoppers. Information/Facts on Crime Stoppers has been included below to assist.
