CRIME STOPPERS LAUNCHES ITS twitter PAGE

Today Crime Stoppers of York Region is proud to announce that it has launched its page on Twitter http://twitter.com/CrimeStopprYork . Twitter is a good fit with the other social media networks that we currently use. Facebook and YouTube were launched in January of this year and each has been used to advertise unsolved crimes and to promote our upcoming fundraising events.

Gigya conducted a survey of social networks and Twitter ranked second behind Facebook with 29% share of social networking on the web. The Nielson Company performed another study and found that 75% of U.S. household’s use social networking with 22% of online time being spent with social media.

This new addition to our online presence with allow us to reach a broader scope of the public and assist us to help solve more crimes.

Crime Stoppers of York Region Incorporated is a non-profit group operated by a Board of Directors comprised of concerned citizens who live in York Region. Crime Stoppers is a three way partnership with the public, media and the police. Anonymous tipsters information is shared with the police in the hopes that it will help the police solve the crime. When tip information results in an arrest the tipster is then eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
