REWARD FOR BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT STILL BEING OFFERED
York Regional Police has partnered with the Canadian Bankers Association and Central 1 Credit Union, who continues to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification and apprehension of a robbery suspect after he robbed six financial institution branches across southern Ontario between 2006 and 2008.
Between May 15, 2006 and February 14, 2008, a series of six financial institution robberies were committed in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and in the Cities of Oshawa and Belleville. In all six of the robberies the suspect enters the branch, produces a note indicating he is armed and demands money, however a weapon has never been seen. Investigators believe these robberies were committed by the same suspect.
On Monday, May 15, 2006, at 3:30 p.m., the suspect entered the Scotiabank located at 6323 Main Street in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and tendered a note. He demanded money and indicated he had a gun. He received a quantity of money and fled on foot.
On Friday, June 30, 2006, at 1:15 p.m., he entered the PACE Savings and Credit Union located at 6245 Main Street in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. He handed the teller a note, indicated he had a gun and demanded money. He fled the bank on foot after receiving a quantity of cash.
The third robbery occurred on Thursday, December 16, 2006, at 3 p.m., when the suspect again entered the same PACE location in Stouffville. He handed a note to the teller demanding money and indicated he had a gun. He received a quantity of money and may have left the area in a green Dodge Caravan.
On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at approximately 4 p.m., the suspect entered the Stouffville PACE location for a third time and handed over a note demanding money. The employees recognized the suspect and when his demands were not met he fled the bank in possibly a green Grand Am or Grand Prix vehicle.
On Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 3:55 p.m., the same suspect entered the Toronto Dominion Bank located at 22 Stevenson Road South in the City of Oshawa. He handed over a note demanding money and indicated he had a gun. He received a quantity of cash and fled from the bank on foot.
The last robbery occurred on February 13, 2008, at 3:20 p.m. The suspect entered the Scotiabank located at 305 North Front Street in Belleville and tendered a note. He indicated he was armed and demanded money. He received a quantity of cash and fled the bank on foot.
