On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at approximately 5 a.m., the 80-year-old female resident of a home on Thurgate Crescent awoke to find a male figure crouched near the foot of her bed. As she began to reach for a flashlight, the suspect fled downstairs and from the residence. The victim immediately locked herself in her bathroom and called 9-1-1 for assistance. The victim was not injured during this incident and no property loss was sustained.

There is no description available of the suspect.

  • » Consider installing a home security system and ensure that everybody in the house know how it works.

  • » Ensure your home is well lit from the inside and outside and keep your curtains closed.

  • » Always have a telephone available to call for assistance.

  • » Be aware of suspicious people or vehicles in your neighbourhood and call police.
